Hi all

ive been using this machine now for 7 years which we use to engrave focus scales for different camera lens. Someone marks each distance with a dot and we manually pick up each dot with the laser and run a different plate program for each number which does it 180 degrees apart. We do this using the rotary setting. Now if you can understand that haha is there any better way of doing this? We can not create one big program because each marking is always a different distance.

is there any way to que files to get them to automatically run after each other? So I can just input the correct x and y into each file everytime? Or is there a multipoint feature I can use to multiple numbers at the same time? I’ve only seen that feature for a plate job not a rotary one?

If you have point and shoot, it generally works on the cylinder.

There is also point and shoot text, if you have the option. The thing some people don't know about PnS Text is that you can do it for many areas in one go.

So you could line up 2 or 3 areas to engrave in one go.

The other thing to think about is if you can do it purely by maths.  If you know where your start point is and the circumference of your circle, you can make one long/wide job and position things using F2 for accurate positioning.

thats good to know but i think a small video would help greatly

Have you considered using a CNC controller software or a laser engraving software that supports a "batch processing" feature? With this, you could create individual files for each marking with the corresponding x and y coordinates. Then, you could queue these files up in the software and set them to run automatically one after the other. This way, you wouldn't need to manually input the coordinates each time, and it could save you a lot of time and effort.
