Forest Cobbler
Does anyone know if we're allowed to use the words 'suitable for a college student' in an advert for a part time job? We don't want to fall foul of any discrimination laws but, equally, can only afford to pay a 16/17 year old's wage. Thanks, Valerie
petercoulson
Saying suitable doesn't exclude anyone - the wages might though so I wouldn't see an issue so long as you don't demand they are happy and cheerful which does exclude some
Forest Cobbler
So putting a poster up in the window saying PART TIME JOB AVAILABLE - SATURDAY + ONE WEEK DAY - SUIT COLLEGE STUDENT should be ok do you think?
petercoulson
I can't see any issue it's not saying it must be a student

Forest Cobbler
It's true that a student could be any age.

My wife was classed as a student last year as she was studying her district nursing degree. She is already a qualified nurse. So yes there is no age limit on being a student. Count Muppet
Can you put the pay in there? maybe say paying £5ph?
k4mrc
minimum pay is first problem but under 21 look it up, it's all hassle employment laws (I think) are ruining it all, yes have protection but in this environment? just interviewing people comes with all sort of problems, Age race and this goes on, if you don.t reply to letters someone will complain. I just took a guy on but did not advertise as haven't got the time, just get chatting to someone to fit the criteria of what your after - you'd be amazed how easy it can be.
