Johnsons dry cleaners closing

Recommended Posts

Many solo Dry Cleaners Timpsons or independents will be closed if the situation stands as it's now for another few months..

Dry Cleaners were already struggling prior to Covid-19 and now they just suffer significantly.

No Weddings, No Birthday parties, No nightclubbing , Not much office work, office meetings and office parties and very limited attendance in Funerals !

£45k is only £865 a week.

if someone is on £450 per week for 6 days work which is quite common. Maybe an extra £80- £100 if the fancy a Sunday.

they do £5k for the week which would leave them with £378 bonus assuming they worked all week.

so that’s 450+100+378 = £928 for the week. £48k if they did that every week.

then of course some weeks may be busier or they might want a day or 2 off so things could be a little different either way.

9 hours a day times 6 = 54 hours, 54 divided by £450 = £8.33 per hour, Bonus £378 divided by 54 = £7 Total per Hour for a 54 hour working week £15.33 per hour solo working poor bugger.

It’s not me doing those hours. I only work 5 days a week. I prefer life away from work these days.

a few years back I was hitting around £30ph (all in, some weeks)but I’m happier to earn less and have a life.

some people can get a lot more than that.

theres a couple of shops where they were taking £10k (average) a week on their own but that sort of work would kill me now.

they would be looking at around £1600 per week. Just depends if you want to work with someone or not.
