It is looking the same for us as well we aren't on the high street but all our customers are. We need to make sure we all talk still these are going to be very difficult times but getting through the virus will be the easy part coming out the other side will be when it gets really difficult as financial institutes etc come to life again. On the plus side we are'nt alone and if the government don't help enough the country will collapse we are a nation of shopkeepers remember we are needed.

It is looking like I will be helping the NHS very soon St John Ambulance have dropped all event cover until July and we are retraining to help in wards with day to day stuff to free up HCPs to do their stuff - already our ambulances are drafted in and doing full time shifts alongside the Ambulance services

I don't know how much I can help anyone but if you do want to talk my number is 078 11333311 or peter@siserve.co.uk - I'm not very chatty but you never know.

You lot deserve a huge round of applause for putting yourselves in the firing line - you have my complete and utter respect. :smt041:smt041

Good luck to you all.

Rick.

I don't have a shop but I do have 2 housing assns that specialise in disabled tennants, many of who have automatic door operators and/or intercoms- most don't go out but need to find out who's there and be able to open the door from their beds etc. These people are in the main unable to get themselves in or out of bed, cook a meal, wash etc - I remain NOW on 24/7 callout hoping not to have any but I am fully prepared with all the correct clobber -

After Boris's announcement  tonight, does that mean we can't  travel to our shop premises to check/pick up mail or more importantly  check for the letter from local authorities  to see how we can claim that 10k grant?

My customers came good for me, after a round robin text I spent 3 days flat out on bikes, although shoe repairs where dead. I came in from delivering bikes only about an hour ago & covered my overheads for a month in two days trading.

im going to travel “to and from my place of work” tomorrow morning to switch everything & the water off and do my accounts so I know where I am & then I’m home.

good luck everyone. Enjoy your break if you can.

for many mobile locksmiths and auto locksmiths  who are companies so can take the 80% of salary help thats available once in place , and for the self employed once a scheme is announced are concerned , there will be a big decision to be made .

you will have to weigh up which route you are better taking , after talking to my accountant , for me to be able to access the 80% salary i must effectively close my business entirely , i mustnt even take 1 job or i dont qualify , which is fair enough .

or i can stay open to cover essential emergency jobs only for key workers and public , id assume this doesnt mean spare keys , so legit emergencies only , if the case will i be likely to get enough genuine emergency jobs to make this pay what i would recieve by closing for the 10 or 12 weeks.

or should i be reckless and cover all and any job , or fiddle things and close and work cash only , so break the rules and damn the consequences to maybe get hammered later on .

its a tough decision that many will have to make a quick decision on , it would have been better to allow emergency cover whilst on a scheme and adjust figures , but this mechanism isnt in place .

last night i did attend a lost key job for a key worker at 1130pm , but im likely going to close once the payment mechanism is in place to get the 80% salary , as safer and more sensible and guaranteed to cover the bills , but this is a personal decision we all must take at some point

They're talking end of April before the PAYE 80% system will be up and running. As this is 90% of the UK workforce this will take priority which means self employed probably won't see anything before May!!!

Because I’m part Bike shop I could open. Tuesday I moved some money, paid all my liabilities & have three months overheads in the bank. I ain’t even walking the dog. The only reason I’m leaving my boarder is for food. Life a long road, I don’t want it.

none of us will see any support until mid April because they won’t release any money till the new tax year on the 1st

good luck people
