Hi all,

I have a pair of Alexander McQueen boots with a red block heel that really needs re-painting. As I don't have any money because I spent it all on McQueen boots to give them to a shoe restorer and I suspect they'll need repainting almost on a monthly basis I'd really appreciate if anyone could help me with what kind of paint is best to use, and the best way to make it as long lasting as possible. I heard somewhere that acrylic paint with a sealant would be effective. the heel is made of leather I believe with a layer of some kind of rubber taking up the lower quarter inch. im not too worried about how well it sticks to the rubber as long as the leather portion is looking awesome!

Thanks for any help anyone can give me,

There'll be some DIY subreddit that'll be more willing to talk you through how to do it

lots of people on the internet love to give free advice. it's a wonderful thing.
trade-forums are often not the best place for it, good luck tho

Have a look in hobby craft. They will have something there you can use.

Maybe a spray paint type thing or maybe something like the dylon lady esquire type paint.

Ive always been slightly embarrassed to sell the "lady esquire" because its always sounded like the name of a porn magazine to me

i believe your local hardware store should sell krylon spray paint it is for plastics like outdoor furniture.you would need to find closest color then apply blue painters tape around the heels in order not to get paint where you don't want it.wipe heel first with a mineral solvent then spray heels lightly remembering not to put too much on at once as in might run.always spray outside as spray stinks.the hard part will be finding the right color.once you have done t once you'll get the hang of it.you should also get some patent leather cleaner from your local shoe repair store to look after rest of boot.
