Mortice keys not matching manufacturer's spec

Recommended Posts

Two things I've noticed recently:-

1) Davenport Burgess's HD Union mortice blanks seem to have a narrower bit than both the ones I usually get from SKS and the Union originals. This doesn't actually seem to cause any problems but seemed odd to me. Anyone else noticed this?

2) Eurospec big brass mortice blanks seem to be a half gauge thicker than the original keys which IS causing problems - they're not able to go in the locks. Anyone noticed this? We used to have problems a few years ago with Eurospec blanks but they've been OK for ages now, and then a couple of days ago we got three back (same lock, same key).

Are you using HD's L153 ? We now use HD's L372 the bit is slightly bigger to suit both 3 &  5 lever Union locks
