CDTL
Sorry to bring it up again but any new info on the two new transponder machines . I keep going on the two websites but nothing really new on there, just wondering if any of you have got either of the machines and could help me make a choice,As I said before I will only be shop based, for me it is about being able to do as many cars as possible on a realistic budget,
grahamparker
For me it's the Silca machine but there is not a great deal to choose between either machine. Some will tell you one is better than the other but to be fair to Keyline they where the first to crack the id48 market with Silca now playing catchup. For everyone that says Silca is the best someone else will say Keyline is the best. Don't think you will go far wrong with either of these machines. Lee
As Graham is a Silca man, I'm personally a keyline man. I don't like the fact with silca you have bits bolted onto it, and that little snooping device. I like the keyline keyless system kits & the ford remotes & now even the glass chips. you just giggle the key in the ignition & don't have to add the snooper thing. the initial problems with ID48 have gone away, it works. I've also been impressed with the way the machine has evolved without needing to replace it, it still feels like its the machine to have & not outdated, I also like the fact keyline sponsor the forum & I've got to know many people in the company personally & feel like I'm talking to family run business (despite its international status!) I don't know anything about Silca, other than its called Silca. Lee
grahamparker
Same for me with Silca, i know Lee who runs Silca uk well and have even visited the factory and had a tour of Venice as a guest of Silca and Aldridges. Matt is always available to answer technical issues. The snoop device is simplicity itself to use and i have never had a failure to clone ANY key yet with the silca machine. The bolt on was required to give wifi capabilities to the machine. The chip costs could be the deciding factor if you want to do ID48 Cloning as the Silca is a lot cheaper. Silcaltd
Just to explain why we have a Snoop device. A, No need to cut a key before starting he cloning procedure. B, Only using a programmed key in the ignition. C, LED lights give a visual indication of data collection. D, Only 3 cycles of the ignition for ID48. Hope this helps. Carlito
have even visited the factory and had a tour of Venice as a guest of Silca and Aldridges. If Lee and Graham come to Italy together, I cannot promise a tour around Venice, but I can surely confirm a tour of Prosecco Winyeards. ...Italy vs UK: Prosecco contest. =))) derek
Autotechnix
Does anyone know if the KeyLine ID48 Extreme will clone Golf Mk7 2013-2016 please? Already asked a dealer about Silca, they said VW Golf up to 2012 but latest Silca literature says to 2014. I use a FastCopy+ so Silca would be 1st choice but not if it doesn't cover what the KeyLine kit can.

I couldnt clone a 13 plate golf7 on the keyline mini , just stated not cloneable , still waiting on my mbox for the rw4 ,but that probaly would have failed too. But i can`t fault the keyline is a great little tool. Carlito and Autotechnix
rapidlocks
car years will always be missleading , as years do not always correspond to build dates as we all know only to well . neither option will do all vag id48 models on late cars , it comes down to the chip , both solutions can do up to 96 bit i think but cant do the newer ones yet with higher encryption level yet . as graham says im sure many will wait to compare the chip prices to decide which way to go , and currently the tkm heads are a dearer option , but with keylines release of gkm chip iminent i guess some will wait to see how these compare price wise with the silca option. i use both machines 884 and rw4 plus , i cant comment on the id48 solution between them both as im still waiting for my m box upgrade on order and deposit paid last october , but not yet recieved to compare them , though ive been using the keyline version with success for 9 months now , as soon as i finally recieve my m box i can compare how they perform side by side and in an honest comparison . ive heard stories from friends at the elf show that the silca unit there was suffering queue times similar to keyline suffered but looks like nice kit , if suffering similar queue times as keyline suffered then im sure like keyline they will move to fix this as i suspect you cant get this right till you have the units out there and everyone hitting the calculator at same times to fix , keyline hasnt taken longer than 2 minutes to clone for a while now some im sure silca will be same too once sorted and all out there . i like the snoop facility on silca so looking forward to this , in fact it was one of reasons i wanted the silca solution as i think a positive , but i must say , despite the keyline solution telling you to cycle key 8 times , i only ever cycle 3 or 4 times and never fails on just 3 or 4 cycles . so i look forward to eventually recieving my m box upgrade as 8 months so far waiting with no indication on delivery as yet , though im sure it will be worth waiting for , and look forward to doing a real side by side comparison , but like others im keen to learn the keyline chip solution prices once released as this too will impact on the unit i use the most . dave was right in his answer , no matter which you choose , silca or keyline you will get a good well supported unit unlike some that are unsupported after a short time .
