Forest Cobbler
Hi We have a TRS-5000 EVO and are considering investing in a KD900. At the bottom of the page in the SKS book it shows a range of remotes that take an ID46 chip. Am I right in thinking that the ID46 chips are only programmable on a different machine, not the TRS-5000? Thanks, Valerie

Forest Cobbler
Right. Got that wrong then. Are there any benefits / downsides to ID46 when compared to TPX or TPH chips?

Lock Stock
Hi We have a TRS-5000 EVO and are considering investing in a KD900. Am I right in thinking that the ID46 chips are only programmable on a different machine, not the TRS-5000? Thanks, Valerie The ID46 key-DIY remotes are to be programmable via diagnostics, these remores are designed for vehicles when the remote and chip are together on the circuit board (PCF7941 etc) this type of key programs the remote at the same time as the chip and will not be any good with a cloning machine. The normal key-DIY remotes will be fine for cloning 4C, 4D & 46 chips then doing remotes with manual procedures. Like the Ford system. The only thing you need to be aware of is you can't really use the TPX glass chips in the remotes as they are to big you need carbon chips. It's not impossible just a ball ache
Forest Cobbler
We don't have diagnostics, only the TRS 5000 EVO.
rapidlocks
if you only have trs5000 cloning to tpx chips , as has been said you need to modify the kd flip keys to take these chips , or use a normal pod key for the chip and use the seperate B09 remotes on kd900 . if you have no diagnostics then you are limited to the remotes that code in manually
Lock Stock
We don't have diagnostics, only the TRS 5000 EVO. You can still use Key-DIY just not the ID-46 remotes. You can still clone ID-46 and do remotes for some vehicles just not all, If its a separate chip (PCF7936) with a manual procedure for the remote it will be fine. The only real issue is the size of the TPX chips in some of the remotes they don't very well. If you use a small carbon chip they fit in all remotes. Forest Cobbler
So it sounds like it would be better to wait until we have the rest of the update to our TRS-5000 EVO, ie; the box that programs the TPX8 carbon chips, and then get the KD900. Thanks for your help. Valerie
grahamparker
TPX 8 looks like it is for doing ID48 not ID46. completelocks
simong
If you have trs5000 evo it will do id46 but be aware it is not 100 percent like doing it with diagnostics , I did a job yesterday on a citroen c5 that knocked off the remote buttons when he had the clone done , I changed the chip and diagnostically added it with the remote and was fine , customer took key back to timpsons happy days . Count Muppet
Whenever I have cloned ID46 and the original remote stops working afterwards, I have found that just starting the car with the original key is enough to get the remote working again. simong
funny that went to renault kangoo 2009 + 1 three button remote and 1 slca gti cloned key , added the 2nd remote no problem ,clone did not work afterwards . could not even add a renault id46 chip that model is remote only .when doing clones you cannot diagnostically add them chip has to be changed ,
Lock Stock
When cloning using a Silca GTI chip the remote ALWAYS works afterwards. I've never had that either. Must be the machine I use TPX4 and ADA carbon on my Miraclone no problem all day long. funny that went to renault kangoo 2009 + 1 three button remote and 1 slca gti cloned key , added the 2nd remote no problem ,clone did not work afterwards . could not even add a renault id46 chip that model is remote only .when doing clones you cannot diagnostically add them chip has to be changed , The GTI was probably a clone of the second original key which wasn't there. Don't forget with the Renault system only keys present will be programmed back in. So if the original to the clone wasn't there it cant work. That car is also needs a chip on a board which programs remote with the chip at the same time. grahamparker
