Lee
After watching the new's daily 'doom & gloom' headlines on trade, the next 12 months are predicted by all to be down. I wondered how many shoe repairers felt the same? *****Thank you to K4Mrc for this poll suggestion, if you have an idea for a question please PM me! I have a job coming up with new ideas every month!*****

keithm
It would be interesting to know if there was a geographical difference in the up's and down's. i.e. a North/South diveide for example?
Lee
quite interesting the way this survey has gone, with 2/3 of use feeling trade is on the up, yet a 1/3 feeling the downturn. very few remaining on an even keel. I wonder why the difference for the 1/3 who are feeling the globule recession? Lee
Guest Iain Cheall
Pinched the figures off a different forum but they apply to my area Invista - European Head Office - Geneva-Switzerland, Plants in Holland and Germany Job Losses / Closures in those countries 0 Job Losses / Closures in UK 300+ direct jobs nearer 1000 if indirect jobs included - Full Plant Closure PetroPlus _ European Head Office Switzerland, Plants in Holland, Belgium, France, Germany Job Losses / Closures in those countries 0 Job Losses / Closures in UK 200+ direct jobs nearer 500 if indirect jobs included - Full Plant Closure Corus - European Head Office - Holland, Plants in Holland and Germany Job Losses / Closures in those countries 0 Job Losses / Closures in UK 2000+ direct jobs nearer 5000+ if indirect jobs included - Full Plant Closures in parts of the UK SABIC - European Head Office - Holland, Plants in Holland and Germany Job Losses / Closures in those countries 0 Job Losses / Closures in UK 167+ direct jobs anounced last week, Closure Of Paraxylene and Aromatics Plants anounced last year also. Its great to be in the EEC, we are well looked after and protected all these companies have closed or shut plants down within 10 miles of my shop, It's a bad time to try and make a living in the North East.... The Tanker company that I drive for at weekends has made drivers redundant as have several other haulage firms in the area. Was on Teesport docks on sunday and they place is nigh on empty of tanks and containers coming in or out..... Looking grim for the future but I'll carry on trying
windycity
lets hope we have a wet and sunny summer not a hot dry one, it does upset me to see everyone in flipflops and thongs. it does not feel as manic as normal. also there are no new ladies shoes coming in for thin sas anymore i think shoes shops must be being hit very hard. this year and last have been good for me, but with the rising costs of materials i have had to change what i push ie jr as they are just over priced now from my point of view. we could have a tough few years in front of us, like mint said he has 52 units/shops closed down in his town, scary. keithm
Have you tried pushing for harder wearing SAS Windy? You'llbe surprised how many you get and with a price difference of around £1-50 it can make a big difference. Topy Elysee are ideal for this and they last too! But I'm sure there's other products that you may find good enough Keith
