Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
Good customer service gaz, nice to see someone following up for the customer when they are unable to do the job themselves. Sounds a tricky job though that could involve a few problems due to the no zip. Many years ago we had a metal bracket that fitted into the waist, screwed between the heel breast and sole it saved removing the shank, handy when the insole was also broke. Lee
I can do the job, but by the time the customer has posted them to me, I have posted them back & completed the work its not going to be any cheaper than your competitors. But PM me her address & number & i'll talk to her. Lee
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
I can forsee a new service sprouting forth. Anything you cant do yourself... provide the customer with a forum members details after finding who can do the job. This way customers do not get dissilusioned with the trade as a whole. A sort of " I cant do the job for you but I know a man who can" "just leave your details and I will pass them onto him/her".
Hugh-Candoit (ENG)
1st of all gaz find a supplier of coloured leather in a thickness suitable and a huge vatiety of colours. Then find a supplier of heel blocks, as these come in differing thicknesses and heights and base sizes the number required to hold in stock is like lottery numbers. When the demand subsides as it will do so very shortly due to cheaper imports then you may just get left with an unmovable large quantity of stock. some of the stock from the 60s/70s is still sitting on shelves or in boxes gathering dust. If you are serious about offering replacement heel service ( or any other forum member is ) i am more than happy to point you in the direction of a reliable source for heel blocks , and another for heel covering Leathers , however as Hugh points out not a task to be taken on lightheartedly , need at least 4 seat sizes for each shape , style , and height , as well as considerable skill in matching odd coloured leathers , or spray finished Heels feel free to PM me
Lee
I communicated with this customer, about her shanks. But with postage etc. the price wasn't much lower than getting them done locally. I am awaiting a final response, but don't hold out much hope. Lee
