Auto Key Wizard
VW Ignition Lock Removal Call top of key way 12 O'clock. At 11 O'clock mark a line along the ignition housing. (from cast lip on front of housing heading back towards steering column). Measure 12mm back along this line from the cast lip on ignition housing. Punch/drill hole at this position to find retaining spring. Push spring down to release lock. Should find code on side of barrel.

petercoulson
good advice but shouldnt this be in the trade only section?
kobblers
the same thought occurred to me peter but then i thought that lots of people who aren't key cutters know how to take an ignition out so i decided not to move it i get plenty of customers bringing ignition barrels in over the year but it's not a service we offer anyway. rick. Why do they bring ignition barrels in Rick? Total key loss? If they're non-transponder systems you could mail them to someone like me, & have a key made to it
ponsaloti
This is a key cutting area, personally I think any-thing to do with locksmithing and auto should be in trade section.

We are not discussing the opening of a vehicle, but removal of the ignition from an already unlocked one, But i see your logic.
