Auto Key Wizard
Free..., FREE..., you gotta be joking, How much have you spent on a facility to offer engraving? The only thing you'll get free from me is advice. There's no such thing as a free lunch!!
Danny King
Free... I don't think so. You are offering a service which has to be paid for and these machines arn't cheep. We offer two different prices one for items bought from us and one for customers own item
Lee
If your customer went into a high street jewelers they would expect to pay extra for engraving and have to wait a week or so. So why when you offer the service in house yet in a fraction of the time scale should you charge less, or nothing at all? When I sell a product I always tell the customer engravings extra. Sometimes the engraving exceeds the price of the item, but rarely do the customers query it. Lee
Michael
Zippos I offer 15 free characters when bought here only because there is 2 other shops within 100 yards that also sell them.Everything else I charge the same as if they bought there own items in ,minus the set up charge. ironplanet uk900
One thing we sell that our competitors sell is Zippo's. Most of ours are £10 dearer. But its one of our strongest lines It depends how you word your price tag, and the quality & reputation of your company, and The art of good customer service. Sounds like a load of bullshit but its a fact

Jay
So far today we have sold 3 zippo's, our engraving charge is all in with the price, so free engraving or "no extra charge" for engraving. The customers love it the customer like's the idea that they will not have to pay any extra cost for engraving. The price they see on the tag is the price they pay. Works especially well on tankards/hip flasks/glass ware. Who the hell would want a tankard without any engraving on it?!
keithm
I used to offer half price engraving on any item we supplied. Nowt is free!!! Keith
Graham
I always despair at the people around us that offer free engraving. I can't see why they do it, well, I can, to get the business, but we're here to make a living not to give our services away as cheap as possible. We have a few work from home types around and they offer huge discounts and free engraving which is a bit annoying. On the plus side, we don't want to do all that work for nothing so it's no skin of our nose really. The guys that are lucky enough to receive the deal will eventually end up with substandard work because the person doing it is fed up of doing tonnes of work for nothing so just gets it done as quick as possible. Then we'll be there to charge full price for correct name spellings etc on replacement plates
