grahamparker got a reaction from x minit uk in COVID-19 Information for you
We supply keys and locks to just about every local factory/NHS, sole suppliers of all keys, locks and door closers etc to 2 main hospitals/2 major oil refineries/shipping/Transport/all the estate agents/Local Council/Supermarkets and housing associations. We are the only ones local than can cut all high security keys that none of the others can. That is why there are so many in such a small area.
We also now supply one of the biggest online padlock retailers with all there duplicate keys.
Thats one of the main reasons i have just ordered one of the new Silca Unocode series F900 fully automated key cutting and engraving machines.

Abus plus keys fit great although you do need to trim a lot of the first cut side. We charge tham at £9.50 + vat and do hundreds every year as we are the only ones prepared to cut them locally. We advise every customer before cutting that the locks are crap and a key costs more than the lock but they still have them cut as they are nearly always fitted on alleyways or horse fields.

grahamparker got a reaction from ponsaloti in key id
Agree with Ponsaloti the locks are 70mm discus padlocks in a box fixed from inside so insert broken blade carefully then turn to open lock then fit with a new padlock.
I use Abus but you can use any discus padlock you like.
They are reasonably simple to do, we have changed many over the last few years mostly for builders and plasterers as the locks fill up with all the crap they throw in the back of the vans. Always advise lubricating once a month and NEVER use WD40.

grahamparker reacted to k4mrc in MY AWARD FOR GREAT WHOLESALER OF THE YEAR
this is a true story,
I have dealt with lots of Sikh over the years
one guy I did biz with we used to deal with an item that used to cost £9 each, as time went on over the years I used to buy 50 at a time..
this was great biz, at the start I would check the quantity he would check the cash, it got to be so often we'd do biz that he didn't check the cash, i didn't check quantity...
One time i went to him to collect the next batch and he asked if I'd lost something last visit? i said no,. he gave me £100 cash stating I'd given too much - I don't know any others that would have done this?

Many years back Abus took us on a business trip to the Pfaffenhain factory and there was a Sikh called Bobby from London who came with us.
Loved a drink and extremely generous guy, we ended up in a Shisha bar in Berlin until 4am one evening and he payed for the whole bar bill for the 6 of us who had spilt from the main party he also paid the taxi's home and would not take a penny from any of us.
Cracking fella.

No. you will soon run into problems unless duplicating from the original key every time.
You will never ever get 100% accuracy unless using genuine blanks and sharp cutters and regular maintenance of you machines.
If you don't have them yet Digital vernier calipers are an absolute must.

Sikhs (or Hayden as I call them) are some of the nicest people I know, during the first lockdown a temple in Luton got in touch with St John Ambulance and once a week delivered food supplies to our main hub in Stevenage including some Indian delicacies that went down very well with everyone. I think a donation in their name to their temple or a local one would go down very well with them.

We ( Goldy Locks ) have an account with SKS and spend quite a bit with them. So was looking at them but could not find a blank. Then I thought I recognized it...got a sample 18 months ago. Rough..so never took it up. Packaging is good. My sample says 5 year guarantee...sks says 10 years. Not the slightest bit interested without key cutting. At the price and difficulty, open an account with Min-ty-lock for a quality product. I might just stick it on my website and others so I can write "Scrapped" across Ultion. Need a photo.?
