Hey guys,

before you start jumping to conclusions

business is ok, it could always be better, otherwise I would not have done 15000 miles in 10 months. you always get good months and bad.

you are right in some ways, I did not scrutinise certain aspects like website, but this is also not the only thing I am doing.

I just decided to pursue other things which I do have more passion for.

dont forget you also get 3 months unlimited credit on the zedfull

Not only for cloning, It is a great OBD programmer, in some respect on some models quicker and easier than the MVP

It is s credit crunching machine though, as if I did have to pay for the credits, then I probably would of used the MVP on most of it.

But during the 3 month period of unlimited credits, I used the MVP once, and that was only because an error came up on a insignia when I tried the Zedfull, but the MVP went straight through.

I see where you are coming from with your comments and some may be true, mainly fleet work, contractor work, so entry work minimal, not worth investing in lishi picks yet, as not enough entry jobs justify investing in lishi, one of my main fleet vehicles are the older "snapping" mercedes vans, a simple copy and clone job.

But I agree on one thing,  I have not been 100% committed to this trade, I am not making what I want to and I have something which is hitting closer to the targets I want and I just wish to concentrate more on that, I have not advertised remotes in the sale, as I still can get what I paid for them, and have agreed a sale for the stock I have, the "selection of blanks include, Tibbe, HU101, HU100, HU46, HON66, HON58, YM28, YM15, VA2, HU86, NE72, and also probably another "selection " of remote cases, It fills a couple of FAT MAX organiser cases.

The simple reason for my sale is that it is simply just not making what I wanted it to, a few contractor fleets, upgraded their fleet at the end of last year, and now that is trickling through in fleet work. I feel with the kit on offer someone can either strengthen their existing fleet or jump in like I did with a discount on what I paid for it !

I hope this has clarified more on what is for sale :)

Personally I would invest £10 grand in something else rather spending that money on kit and within 5 years or so no use nor ornament.

I would rather spend that money on a shop or electrician course or even plumbing , which I know 2 guys near me are always busy and bring in a very good salary and not worrying on there overheads ie machinery.

all valid points !

just the reason why I wish to sell rather than investing more

And "Mr Cheerful" - you have crapped on everything since my first thread, I was simply listing something for sale

you then crapped on it stating another dreamer !, then you crap on hickleys on training and selling equipment to them, then retracting on their trade practice, then lastly basically crapping that I was doing the wrong bits of the trade.

All I can say is that ALL regions requirements and trade are different, I picked a section which covered itself, I decided that entry work was less in my region, and decided not to invest on this side. now with what I have invested another 10K+ is needed,

with respect, you are a veteran locksmith with probably decades of experience.

In all honesty did you have all what you have stated in the beginning?

All negative replies to my simple tread of "for sale"

come on " Mr Cheerful"  be cheerful!!

  • 1 year later...

it will get much harder next year , interesting and expensive times ahead .

chi the market is a tough one to get established in , lots making the once easy money on easy jobs , but have used the method most without a clue use the price cutting method  , to undercut to a level that it wont sustain a business long term and wont allow them to reinvest in the future technology , too many dont see any further than today sadly.

its a brave person that invests heavily in this game at present or a foolish one , depends how you look at it .

good luck with the sale , but i think you will struggle to sell as a complete package unless lucky enough to find someone with deep pockets who hasnt done their homework . you may do better selling the main items seperate but despite being nearly new i think it may disappoint you on what people will pay for this kit even lightly used . which may prompt you to plug on and try and get payback yourself to limit losses on resale .

good luck and hope you get lucky

But as said it's the undercutting I can do it £5 cheaper than joe, joe has a shop I have a van - I get my stores from ebay, Joe buys his from a UK based supplier.

I don't do cars or indeed locks now But I just lost a job for £20 per door- 5 doors in a complex. The saucy B*****d has phoned me and asked if I can quote him- Or if I could go and show him how to install one for a small fee, or maybe I could just tell him how to do it! - I am on the suppliers approved list.

He is not aware I was the one he was up against.

He has no idea what is involved all he saw was £1754 per door and the parts are around £1200. (ish)

What will happen now is he will cock it up and someone will have to pay to sort it out, last time I was asked and I said I could't undo the crap job, best to remove it all, get the wall repaired (put ragbolts through wall) and had the doors repaired

But then that person moves on and a new one is cash cutting......... ah well.

think most guys that do auto know its soon coming to an end

what with everthing going online servers etc

and with sales of these tools being sold on ebay garages even filipping amazon

only one to blame in my book is the manufactures of these tools and outlets who sell to anyone now

so basically they have cut there own throats

cant blame the car manufacturers tightening the loop when you get the idiots on youtube and even going to the trade shows and flashing the tools in the faces of renault being one example

all a big piss take

Not wishing to crap on your sales thread mate.

I speak as a working Auto Lockie, the business is unsustainable in its current state. Money is not in spare keys, every monkey with a cloner can do spare keys. Lost keys, remotes, doing things that the other guy cannot, that's where the money is.

Add opening tools, decent EEPROM kit, a month of GOOD training, £10,000 in stock, plenty of practice and time dedicated to the business. The business would have a much greater chance of success. If you can't invest that then you are wise to sell before you get too far in.

Genuinely wish you luck mate.

You'd be out of your brain if you spent 10k on stock if you are an on the road locksmith!  Why?  Unless you are a "Monkey" doing spares from a shop and actually making some money and so getting a return on your investment ;)  However, you are correct that training is not a week on a course, only very basic.  No real money in lost key work.  Except possibly in a big city with little competition.

i must be totally insane then as have 6 times this at least in key and remote stock at any one time , i must get my bumps felt , though i find the level of stock i have lacking sometimes for my contracts and to have the ability to offer and deliver a same day service as if i cant deliver same day i lose job every time as always someone else who can , i can do 20 remote keys in 1 visit for 1 contract and its always urgent and needed yesterday , plus buying more , ofen costs less too and is useful when a part drought happens like with renault cards at present , im actually looking to increase stock rather than reduce.

so the why is necessity in order to offer a same day service to my customers and contracts and get the best price i can on oem parts so i can compete , and even now i still have to order parts in occasionally for some jobs if i can get them for next day which normally i cant as at least 2 others locally that can offer a same day service on almost all keys .

i only stock and use genuine keys where i can and keydiy as a budget range , though most of my contracts only accept genuine keys and lock sets , the public like a cheaper option if possible .

so if 10k is out of brain , i must be an insane blubbering wreck and im not shop based at moment , purely out on road .
